Why it Matters
Volunteering is the heartbeat of our campaign. It’s about neighbors talking to neighbors, building trust, and ensuring every voice in District 40 is heard. Your time and energy are what make this movement real, honest, and powerful. Together, we are building a future rooted in rural integrity and community service.
Campaign Biography
I am Tim Hornbacker, Preble County citizen, running for the 40th Ohio House of Representatives seat in the State General Assembly.
Why I’m Running
I am running not with grand sweeping ideas or life altering programs but with the belief that democracy requires a choice. As a lifelong Democrat and frequent poll worker, I detest seeing Democratic blanks on ballot after ballot. So, I am asking you to help me fill in one of those blanks.
My History
I have no idea how to be a politician, although I like babies, and have fostered over a hundred. We rely on a common sense and common decency Church of the Brethren background to guide my campaign. I earned a bachelor’s degree from DePauw University and a master’s degree in nursing. I love education and still learn every day. Years ago, I sold my 50-cow dairy herd and left the farming to my brother in Indiana. I went back to school and started a new career in Ohio as a Registered Nurse at Wayne Hospital in Greenville. I also volunteered as a firefighter/paramedic. Now I tend my retired harness racer and rehabilitate dilapidated area houses, hopefully to create affordable homes for credit challenged neighbors utilizing land contracts. Back in Indiana our neighborhood gathered every fall for a butchering day. Making sausage was never my favorite task. I would much rather feed the hogs than eat them. My outsider understanding is that the legislative process is much the same as making sausage. But we deserve a choice … and I still have my old rubber apron and boots ready for making that sausage.
Issues
- Health care is and has always been a vital concern. Medicaid cuts will severely affect the less affluent citizens of this district. Fewer personal resources for doctor visits and medication will be a hardship. Plus, lower income for rural hospitals may be a critical factor in their survival.
Directly related to health care is the viability of rural EMS and Fire Services. If individual volunteer departments are replaced with centralized paid services, response time will rise.
Data Centers are essential in an electronic online world. Their placement, power, and pollution should concern each of us, and we deserve a seat at the table where the decisions are made.
None of these problems has an easy, obvious solution. I can only promise to explore all the options and refuse to accept “this is your only choice” governmental responses.
